Scala Hosting — Reseller Roots, Now a Full Cloud Platform
- Unmanaged Cloud VPS from $19.95/month, Managed from $29.95/month — both include the free SPanel control panel
- Reseller Hosting with unlimited accounts and full white-labeling, from $11.21/month in the Black Friday sale to December 1 (renews $39.95/month)
- 24 data center locations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific
Our Verdict
Scala Hosting started as a reseller-hosting company in 2007 and has grown into a genuinely wide cloud platform — Managed and Unmanaged Cloud VPS, Reseller Hosting, shared Web Hosting, WordPress/WooCommerce-specific hosting, a dedicated n8n product, and its own free control panel, SPanel. The Unmanaged Cloud VPS line undercuts most managed competitors at $19.95/month, and every VPS and reseller tier includes SPanel at no extra licensing cost — a real, quantifiable saving versus cPanel-based hosts.
The trade-offs are the ones you'd expect from intro pricing: renewal increases of 83% to 167% depending on the tier, an "Anytime Unconditional Money-back Guarantee" whose exact terms we could not find spelled out, and no hands-on test of our own. This review is built entirely from Scala's own published pages, not first-party benchmarks.

How We Researched This Review
We read Scala Hosting’s own product, pricing, and company pages on 30 September 2026, including its live pricing configurators for Managed Cloud VPS, Unmanaged Cloud VPS, and Reseller Hosting. Every price, spec, and feature claim in this review comes from those pages.
We have not purchased a Scala Hosting plan for this review, so we have no first-hand speed, uptime, or support-response data. Where a claim is Scala’s own — such as its 15-second average support response time or its award badges — we attribute it to Scala instead of stating it as our own finding.
We had already researched two Scala products directly for other FBWH content: its Reseller Hosting lineup (for our best reseller hosting comparison, re-verified 29 August 2026) and its n8n Self-Hosted Cloud product (for our self-hosted n8n hosting comparison, re-verified 28 September 2026). Both sets of figures are reused here and were spot-checked again against Scala’s current pages while writing this review — they still match.
Scala Hosting’s Product Lines at a Glance

Unmanaged Cloud VPS — full root, lowest entry price
Scala’s Unmanaged Cloud VPS is the cheapest way into its cloud platform. You get full root access, free SPanel “on demand,” free snapshots, and a free dedicated IP — but you manage the operating system and any software you install yourself.
| Plan | vCPU / RAM | NVMe Storage | Intro price | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Config #1 | 2 / 4 GB | 50 GB | $19.95/mo (SAVE 20%) | $24.95/mo |
| Config #2 | 4 / 8 GB | 100 GB | $24.95/mo | $49.95/mo |
| Config #3 | 8 / 16 GB | 160 GB | $49.95/mo | $95.95/mo |
| Config #4 | 16 / 32 GB | 240 GB | $95.95/mo | $183.95/mo |

Managed Cloud VPS — same hardware, Scala handles the server
Managed Cloud VPS uses the same underlying build tiers as Unmanaged, at a higher price, with Scala handling server administration, security monitoring, and support for the server itself rather than just the network and hardware.
| Plan | vCPU / RAM | NVMe Storage | Intro price (read 30 Sep 2026, before the sale) | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build #1 | 2 / 4 GB | 50 GB | $29.95/mo (SAVE 45%) | $54.95/mo |
| Build #2 | 4 / 8 GB | 100 GB | $44.95/mo (SAVE 54%) | $96.95/mo |
| Build #3 | 8 / 16 GB | 150 GB | $69.95/mo (SAVE 59%) | $170.95/mo |
| Build #4 | 12 / 24 GB | 200 GB | $94.95/mo (SAVE 61%) | $244.95/mo |
Black Friday sale, seen 1 November 2026 (runs to December 1, 2026): Build #1 $22.46/mo, Build #2 $33.71/mo, Build #3 $52.46/mo and Build #4 $71.21/mo on a 12-month term; $29.95, $61.95, $115.95 and $169.95/mo on a 36-month term. New plans and upgrades only, no coupon. Renewal prices are unchanged and are the ones in the Renews at column. Source: scalahosting.com/managed-cloud-hosting.html and Scala's Black Friday blog post.

Note the pattern: Build #1–#3 on Managed Cloud VPS use identical specs to Config #1–#3 on Unmanaged, at a higher price — the premium buys server management, not different hardware.
Reseller Hosting — Scala’s original product, now compute-tiered
Reseller Hosting was Scala’s first product line back in 2007. As of a full restructure confirmed live in August 2026, the old account-count-based plans (SPanel One/Pro/Agency) are gone — every current tier now allows unlimited reseller accounts, and plans are differentiated by compute resources instead.
| Plan | CPU / RAM | Intro price (read 30 Sep 2026, before the sale) | Renews at | Renewal jump |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry Cloud | 2 / 2 GB | $14.95/mo (SAVE 63%) | $39.95/mo | +167% |
| Build #1 | 2 / 4 GB | $29.95/mo (SAVE 45%) | $54.95/mo | +83% |
| Build #2 | 4 / 8 GB | $44.95/mo (SAVE 54%) | $96.95/mo | +116% |
| Build #3 | 8 / 16 GB | $69.95/mo (SAVE 59%) | $170.95/mo | +144% |
Black Friday sale, seen 1 November 2026 (runs to December 1, 2026): Entry Cloud $11.21/mo, Build #1 $22.46/mo, Build #2 $33.71/mo and Build #3 $52.46/mo on a 12-month term; $24.95, $29.95, $61.95 and $115.95/mo on a 36-month term. New plans and upgrades only, no coupon. Each plan renews at the standard price in the Renews at column, so budget on that figure. Source: scalahosting.com/reseller-hosting.html and Scala's Black Friday blog post.
Source: scalahosting.com/reseller-hosting.html, read 30 September 2026; restructure first confirmed 29 August 2026. Every tier includes NVMe storage, unmetered bandwidth, daily offsite backups, a dedicated IP, and SPanel.
Every Reseller tier includes full white-labeling (masked control-panel URL, your own branding and nameservers), a free WHMCS module (the WHMCS license itself is purchased separately), free client-account migration, and an optional domain-reseller add-on. Scala explicitly does not support your clients directly — support goes to you, the reseller, so you stay the face of the business.
n8n Self-Hosted Cloud — managed n8n, not just a server
Scala also sells a dedicated n8n Self-Hosted Cloud product: the same underlying compute tiers as its VPS lines, but pre-installed with n8n and, Scala says, backed by 24/7 support staff trained to help with n8n itself — not just the box it runs on.
| Build | Specs | 36-month | 12-month | Renews at (1-mo rate) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build #1 | 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 50 GB NVMe | $29.95/mo | $29.95/mo | $54.95/mo |
| Build #2 | 4 vCPU / 8 GB / 100 GB NVMe | $61.95/mo | $44.95/mo | $96.95/mo |
| Build #3 | 8 vCPU / 16 GB / 150 GB NVMe | $115.95/mo | $69.95/mo | $170.95/mo |
| Build #4 | 12 vCPU / 24 GB / 200 GB NVMe | $169.95/mo | $94.95/mo | $244.95/mo |
Source: scalahosting.com/n8n-self-hosted-cloud.html, re-verified 28 September 2026 (see our self-hosted n8n comparison for the full breakdown). Renewal increases across builds and terms run 44% to 158% — among the steepest we've tracked on a self-hosted product in this category. Note the quirk on Builds #2–#4: the 36-month monthly rate is actually higher than the 12-month rate, because the 12-month term's lower rate only holds for one year before hitting the renewal price — three consecutive 12-month terms cost more over three years than one 36-month commitment.

The rest of the lineup, briefly
- Web Hosting — shared hosting starting from $2.95/mo per Scala’s homepage; we did not price out individual shared tiers or specs for this review.
- Cluster Hosting — enterprise-tier, custom-quoted hosting with load balancers and redundant cluster layers, aimed at high-traffic and complex projects.
- WordPress Cloud Hosting / WordPress Web Hosting / WooCommerce Hosting — WordPress- and WooCommerce-specific framings of the same underlying Cloud VPS and Web Hosting infrastructure, bundled with Scala’s WordPress Manager tool.
- Business Email Hosting — a standalone email hosting product, separate from the email accounts included with any VPS or reseller plan via SPanel.
SPanel — What It Actually Replaces
SPanel is Scala’s own control panel, and it’s the thread connecting every Cloud VPS and Reseller plan. The pitch is straightforward: cPanel charges a per-account license fee that scales with how many accounts you host; SPanel is included on Scala’s plans at no additional licensing cost.
What’s actually in it, per Scala’s own SPanel page:
- Web server choice — Apache, Nginx (reverse proxy), OpenLiteSpeed, or LiteSpeed Web Server (LSWS license purchased separately)
- Developer tools — SSH/CLI access, Git version control, PHP version switching per project, a Node.js manager, database management
- Performance — integrated Cloudflare CDN, Lighthouse performance reports for WordPress, pre-enabled Gzip compression
- Security and monitoring — SShield (Scala’s AI-powered malware/attack monitoring), uptime monitoring, server log access, automatic email reports
- Email — unlimited account creation, blacklist monitoring, inbound/outbound spam filtering, automatic SPF/DKIM record creation
- WordPress/Joomla Manager and a Softaculous one-click installer for 400+ apps
- WHMCS integration — a module is available for billing automation (WHMCS itself licensed separately)
Scala publishes its own comparison table against cPanel and DirectAdmin claiming SPanel wins on real-time security monitoring, outbound spam monitoring, web-server switching, an AI WordPress site builder, full CDN integration, and sub-user/collaborator support. We have not independently re-verified cPanel’s and DirectAdmin’s current feature sets against this table, so treat it as Scala’s own positioning rather than our finding — but the no-per-account-licensing-fee claim itself is a straightforward, verifiable cost difference in Scala’s favor.
Pricing — The Full Picture (Read This Carefully)
Every intro price on this page is temporary. Renewal increases run from 83% (Managed Cloud VPS Build #1) up to 167% (Reseller Entry Cloud) depending on the line and tier — and on the n8n product specifically, up to 158% on some builds and terms. None of these are hidden; they’re disclosed on Scala’s own pricing pages next to the intro price. The discipline is comparing renewal price to renewal price when you shop, not promo price to promo price.
A second thing worth knowing: Managed Cloud VPS and Reseller Hosting Build #1–#3 share identical underlying specs (2/4/50, 4/8/100, 8/16/150) at different price points — the reseller tier adds unlimited accounts, white-labeling, and a WHMCS module; the managed-cloud tier is framed for general business/developer use instead. If you don’t need reseller-specific features, compare both before assuming you need the reseller product.
Support and Reliability
Scala cites a 15-second average support response time, 98.9% customer satisfaction, and 24/7/365 availability via chat and tickets — all Scala’s own figures, which we have not tested. It also advertises free migration on every plan, done by its own team using login credentials you provide, with no downtime claimed.
Scala’s “Anytime Unconditional Money-back Guarantee” appears across its Managed Cloud, Unmanaged Cloud, and Reseller pages, but we could not find the specific terms — time window, whether it’s prorated, what (if anything) is excluded — spelled out on the pages we read. Confirm the exact conditions with Scala directly before you commit, especially on a longer-term plan.
On infrastructure: Scala’s data center page cites a broad certification list (ISO 27001, SOC 1 Type II & SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI DSS v3.2.1, and others) and describes redundant power/cooling and biometric physical security at its facilities. Some of this applies at the AWS/cloud-partner level rather than to Scala’s own native infrastructure specifically — we have not independently separated which certifications apply where.
Locations
Scala lists 24 data center locations across three regions: 7 in North America (native infrastructure in Dallas, New York, and Seattle, plus AWS locations in Ohio, Virginia, Oregon, and Montreal), 12 in Europe (native infrastructure in Sofia, Bulgaria, plus integrated-cloud and AWS locations including Amsterdam, London, and Frankfurt), and 5 in Asia-Pacific (Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Singapore, and Sydney, all via AWS or integrated cloud). That’s a wider footprint than most budget VPS competitors, though most of it runs on partner cloud infrastructure rather than Scala’s own hardware.
Strengths and Trade-Offs
What Scala Hosting Gets Right
- Free SPanel on every VPS and reseller plan — no per-account licensing fee, unlike cPanel
- Unmanaged Cloud VPS starts at $19.95/month with full root access and free snapshots
- Unlimited reseller accounts and full white-labeling on every Reseller Hosting tier
- 24 data center locations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific
- Free migration on every product line, including entire reseller client bases
- A dedicated, purpose-built n8n Self-Hosted Cloud product with n8n-specific support
Scala Hosting Trade-Offs to Weigh
- Renewal increases of 83% to 167% depending on the product and tier
- Money-back guarantee is advertised but its exact terms aren't published where we looked
- Most data center locations run on AWS/partner cloud, not Scala's own hardware
- Unmanaged means you maintain the OS and installed software yourself
- Reseller support goes to you, not your clients directly — you're the front line for them
- We have not tested speed, uptime, or support response ourselves
Who Should Choose Scala Hosting
- Web hosting resellers and agencies who want unlimited client accounts, full white-labeling, and a free control panel instead of a per-account cPanel license.
- Developers who want a genuinely free cPanel alternative (SPanel) with SSH, Git, and Node.js support on cloud VPS infrastructure.
- Anyone self-hosting n8n who wants a support team that will help with n8n itself, not just the server it runs on.
- Businesses that want a choice of 24 data center locations without moving to an enterprise-tier provider.
Who Should NOT Choose Scala Hosting
- Buyers who need the exact money-back guarantee terms confirmed in writing before purchase — get this from Scala directly first.
- Beginners with zero server experience considering the Unmanaged line — that tier assumes you can administer Linux yourself.
- Anyone who wants to avoid a steep renewal jump entirely — every tier we found increases substantially at renewal.
- Teams that need independently verified performance or uptime data — we have none to offer here, and neither does any source we found outside Scala’s own claims.
Bottom Line
Scala Hosting’s real differentiator is SPanel: a genuinely free, actively developed control panel that removes cPanel’s per-account licensing cost from the equation entirely, bundled into cloud VPS and reseller plans that are competitively priced at intro rates. Its reseller roots still show — unlimited accounts and full white-labeling are standard, not an upsell.
The catch is the same one that shows up across most budget-tier hosts: renewal prices are substantially higher than the intro rate, and a few specifics (the money-back guarantee’s exact terms, which certifications apply to which infrastructure) aren’t fully spelled out on the pages we read. If SPanel’s cost model and Scala’s reseller or n8n-specific products fit what you’re building, it’s worth a look — just budget for the renewal rate, not the intro one, before you commit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is SPanel and is it really free?
SPanel is Scala Hosting’s own control panel, included at no extra cost on its Cloud VPS and Reseller plans. Unlike cPanel, which charges a per-account license fee, Scala says SPanel carries no additional licensing cost. It covers file, email, database, and domain management, plus SShield security monitoring and a WordPress Manager.
Is Scala Hosting good for reseller hosting?
Scala’s Reseller Hosting plans include unlimited client accounts, full white-labeling, free migrations, and SPanel at every tier, starting at $11.21/month on a 12-month Black Friday deal that runs until December 1, 2026 (renews at $39.95/month). It was Scala’s original product line when the company launched in 2007, and it remains a core focus alongside its Cloud VPS lines.
What is the difference between Managed and Unmanaged Cloud VPS at Scala?
Managed Cloud VPS includes server administration, security monitoring, and support handling the server itself, starting at $29.95/month. Unmanaged Cloud VPS gives you full root access at a lower starting price ($19.95/month) but you maintain the operating system and installed software yourself.
Does Scala Hosting have a money-back guarantee?
Scala advertises an “Anytime Unconditional Money-back Guarantee” across its product pages. We have not tested the refund process ourselves or found the specific terms (time window, prorated amount) spelled out on the pages we read, so confirm the exact conditions with Scala’s support or terms of service before you buy.
How many data center locations does Scala Hosting offer?
Scala lists 24 data center locations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific on its own network page — a mix of its own native infrastructure (Dallas, New York, Seattle, and Sofia, Bulgaria) and integrated AWS/cloud partner locations elsewhere.
Can I self-host n8n on Scala Hosting?
Yes. Scala sells a dedicated n8n Self-Hosted Cloud product across four resource tiers, with 24/7 support staff Scala says are trained to help with n8n itself, not just the underlying server. See our full self-hosted n8n hosting comparison for pricing and how it stacks up against Hostinger and DigitalOcean.
